Tea Time at Front Street Farmhouse

“The mere chink of cups and saucers tunes the mind to happy repose.” – George Gissing

We’re big tea drinkers and tea culture enthusiasts here at the Farmhouse. While we don’t serve up mugs of tea at our shop, we are intent on bringing you all the items that you need to create a relaxing atmosphere in your own home. Whether it’s the tea itself - loose leaf or sachets, herbal infusions or full-bodied blends - or the pretty teacups or teapots (of which we have a large variety!), infuser mugs or strainers - or even the foods that would be perfect for an afternoon tea party, we are happy to offer it all.

We are delighted to carry a selection of our favorite Harney & Sons teas: Paris, Scottish Morn, Winter White Earl Grey, Blueberry Green, (decaf) Vanilla Comoro, Venetian Tiramisu, and Apricot. As for the Pinky Up teas, we have Rose Tea Hearts (each pressed tea heart makes a teapot-full of tea), Lavender Sorbet Flowering Green tea, Chocolate Mint rooibos, and Confetti Cake herbal tea. We hope to keep adding to our selection of teas and plan to eventually offer samples for tasting (when Covid restrictions allow).

We carry several flavors of Lizzie’s Cheese Straws (Pimento Cheese, Cheddar/Parmesan/Oregano/Sundried Tomato, Classic Cheddar, White Cheddar & Rosemary, Cheddar Habanero w/ Crushed Red Pepper, and even a sweet Red Velvet variety!) and quite a few variations of Cream Scone mixes from Rabbit Creek Products - Classic, Cherry Almond, White Chocolate Raspberry, Chocolate Chip, Blueberry, Caramel Apple, Maple, & Carrot Cake. The scone mixes only need to be mixed with 1 cup of heavy whipping cream. So easy and so delicious! Both of these are great to include at an actual tea party or in a gift basket.

We are also happy to help you pick out tea items as gifts! We’ll even gussy them up with pretty packaging.

We also carry several varieties of jams & jellies to pair with the scone mixes. My personal favorite is the Back in Black, which is a Triple Berry Chocolate Infusion. (I KNOW, RIGHT? It’s so fabulous and with no added sugar, it’s a no-brainer.)

Norma’s favorite is the Blueberry Ginger Jam below. I haven’t tried all of these yet, but we have such a great selection. It’s always fun to choose a coordinating jam & scone mix to give as a gift (which I’ve done several times now).

“The very act of preparing and serving tea encourages conversation. The little spaces in time created by teatime rituals call out to be filled with conversation. Even the tea itself – warm and comforting – inspires a feeling of relaxation and trust that fosters shared confidences.” – Emilie Barnes

We love these oversized mugs below - ideal for a huge cup of steaming tea (or even coffee, if that’s more your speed) but they are also great for serving tomato soup or a small side salad in.

Be sure to stop by the shop soon and daydream with us about your next tea party…whether it’s a simple cuppa in your morning routine or a full-fledged event with cucumber sandwiches and all kinds of sweets & savories, attended by your friends and family.

“Tea is best when enjoyed in pleasant surroundings, whether indoors or out, where the atmosphere is tranquil, the setting harmonious.” – John Blofeld

“You must be completely awake in the present to enjoy the tea.
Only in the awareness of the present, can your hands feel the pleasant warmth of the cup.
Only in the present, can you savor the aroma, taste the sweetness, appreciate the delicacy.
If you are ruminating about the past, or worrying about the future, you will completely miss the experience of enjoying the cup of tea.
You will look down at the cup, and the tea will be gone.
Life is like that.
If you are not fully present, you will look around and it will be gone.
You will have missed the feel, the aroma, the delicacy and beauty of life.
It will seem to be speeding past you. The past is finished.
Learn from it and let it go.
The future is not even here yet. Plan for it, but do not waste your time worrying about it.
Worrying is worthless.
When you stop ruminating about what has already happened, when you stop worrying about what might never happen, then you will be in the present moment.
Then you will begin to experience joy in life.”
Thich Nhat Hanh
